                      This question paper is divided into four Sections – A, B, C and D.

                    (iii) Marks are indicated against each question.

                    (iv) Read the questions very carefully before you start answering them.

SECTION – A

(Reading)

1.Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:

Man’s life is not measured by the number of days, months and years that he has lived, but by the deeds he has done and by the achievements he has made. What is the real significance in life is not the quantity but the quality of experience. A short life devoted to noble endeavours is far more valuable than a long life of over a hundred years spent in trivial pursuits. “We live in deeds not in years.

Noble deeds, splendid ideas and fine. sentiments constitute the real glory of character and not the length of time one has lived in the world.

 

(a) How is man’s life measured?

(b) Which is more valuable, a short life or a long life?

(c) What should man prefer to do in life?

(d) What makes character glorious?

2.Write an article on any one of the following topics in about 100-150 words:

मुंशी प्रेमचंद एक महान साहित्यकार थे। उनका जन्म एक साधारण परिवार में और एक छोटे गाँव में हुआ था। फिर भी वे पूरे विश्व में प्रसिद्ध हुए । हिन्दी तथा उर्दू दोनों भाषाओं पर उनका समान अधिकार था । उपन्यास तथा कहानियाँ लिखने में वे कुशल थे। उनके उपन्यासों में भारतीय समाज का सजीव चित्रण मिलता है। उनकी पुस्तकों का संसार की अधिकांश भाषाओं में अनुवाद हुआ है। उन्हें उपन्यास सम्राट कहा जाता है। वे एक सफल और लोकप्रिय शिक्षक थे। कम पढ़े लिखे लोग भी उनकी पुस्तकों को रुचि के साथ पढ़ते हैं।
